Dr. Christie (Teshie)
Teshie works full(ish)time as a gastroenterologist but switches to animal mom as soon as the work-day is done. Teshie got her first rescue, a cat named Milo, while in medical school. He was very sick as a kitten but she did everything to heal him despite being told to put him down by veterinary professionals. He was by her side (along with his brother Nelson) throughout all her medical training until cancer took his life in June of 2018. She decided she would help as many animals as she could in his honor. She rescued a cat named Odie, a diabetic cat named Rory and additional cats and kittens kept coming. At the same time she had Milo and Nelson, Teshie rescued her first pig Maurice in April of 2016 while living in an apartment in Philadelphia, PA. He was supposed to be 25 pounds max but never stopped growing. She promised she’d never give him up and would get him the land he deserved as soon as she was able. In June of 2019, Teshie was finally able to buy a big piece of land in South Centeal Texas and the rest is history.
Maurice (The Yard Pirate)
The original handsome prince. Maurice was Teshie’s first rescue pig. She was told he would be 20-25 lbs. but of course, he grew way bigger than that! But to Teshie, that only meant there was more to love. She worked incredibly hard to buy this property and give Maurice the life he deserved. He has his own air-conditioned house and is Teshie’s first true love.
